What are glass bevels?
Glass bevels are pieces of flat glass that are enhanced with faceting. Generally bevels are purchased as
individual pieces or clusters, but craftspeople may bevel any glass, be it simple commercial glass
or pieces made from kiln or furnace work.
What may I create by beveling glass?
- flat bevels for leaded glass
- faceted sculptures
- trophies and awards
What equipment is needed for beveling glass?
- flat laps
- abrasives
- wet belt sanders
Where do I learn beveling glass?
There is no specific place to learn the particulars of beveling glass. Any coldworking
instructor should be able to teach it if a student manifests interest. Most
hot glass shops have a cold working area, and if they provide classes, a prospective
student should inquire about coldworking courses.
